Sydney Harbour and beaches
The harbour trips leave from Circular Quay and Darling Harbour, the beach lessons from Bondi and Maroubra. Humpbacks pass the Heads from about May to November, and whale watching cruises from Circular Quay and Darling Harbour run through the season. In the water, there is guided snorkelling at Manly and Clovelly and there are beginner surf lessons in Sydney most mornings.
On foot, compare Sydney walking tours, from tips-based walks to small groups, and history walks through The Rocks, the convict-era quarter by the Quay. After dark, the same lanes host pub crawls and bar tours. New to the city? Start with things to do in Sydney, then pick a tour.
On the water, compare Sydney harbour cruises for sightseeing, sunset and dinner sailings. Short on time? See the main sights in one morning on city sightseeing tours, by bus, van or hop-on hop-off.
Blue Mountains
The most booked day trip from Sydney, about 90 minutes to 2 hours west by road. Compare Blue Mountains day trips from Sydney by group size and stops, or choose guided bushwalks in the Blue Mountains if you want the walking more than the lookouts. Going on your own? Here is what to see in the Blue Mountains.
Further out, Port Stephens day trips fit dolphins, koalas and sand dunes into one long day.

Where Sydney tours leave from
The meeting point is on your voucher, and it is the detail people get wrong. Five places cover almost every tour on this site.
- Circular Quay. Most whale cruises and harbour trips, plus Rocks walks, which meet a few minutes away. Slava Goes Places checked in for a fast whale boat at Campbell’s Cove at 6:30 am, at the western end of the Quay.
- Darling Harbour. The other main wharf for whale and dinner cruises. It is a short ferry ride from Circular Quay, so check which one your voucher names.
- Manly. Snorkel tours at Shelly Beach, a 30 minute ferry from Circular Quay plus a short walk.
- Bondi and Maroubra. Surf lessons meet on the beach. The 333 bus runs to Bondi from Circular Quay. Allow extra time in summer.
- CBD hotels and pickup points. Blue Mountains day trips collect from central hotels or set stops early in the morning. The pickup time is on the voucher.
Ferry and bus times to each of these are on the Transport for NSW trip planner. If you are running late, call the operator on the number in your confirmation, not Viator.
What happens when you book
- Pick a trip above. The button opens that tour on Viator with the live price and dates.
- Choose your date, start time and group size, then pay on Viator. Viator takes the payment; SydneySide Tours never sees your card details.
- Viator emails a confirmation with your voucher, the operator’s name and phone number, and the meeting point.
- On the day, be at the meeting point on the voucher by the check-in time it gives.
Most listings allow free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start, and the card shows it where the listing does. If the operator cancels for weather or sea conditions, you are offered another date or a full refund. More detail, including who to contact about what, is on how booking works.

Booking FAQ
What is the best day tour from Sydney?
The Blue Mountains day trip, on review count. The most reviewed tour in our research is a Blue Mountains day trip with 10,009 reviews at 4.9 when we checked. Plan on about 10 hours door to door, with 90 minutes to 2 hours of driving each way.
Which Sydney harbour tours can I book?
Whale watching cruises run from Circular Quay and Darling Harbour in season, roughly May to November. Year round, there are harbour walks through The Rocks and evening bar cruises. Sightseeing, lunch and dinner cruises are compared on our Sydney harbour cruises page.
Are there tours in Sydney at night?
Yes. Pub tours in The Rocks and the Big Night Out pub crawl both start in the evening, and the historic pub walk takes about 2.5 hours. Some Blue Mountains trips run a late start and a night walk with glow worms.
Are there free tours in Sydney?
Tips-based walking tours run from the city centre. You reserve a place for free and pay the guide what you think it was worth at the end. Our walking tours page explains how they differ from the paid small group walks.
Can I book a private tour in Sydney?
Yes, for most types of trip. There are private Blue Mountains days, private walking tours of The Rocks and a private whale watching charter for up to 8 guests. Private trips cost much more than a group place, and the card shows the live price.
Do I need to print my Sydney tour ticket?
Usually not. Viator emails a voucher with the meeting point and the operator's phone number, and many listings take it on a phone. The listing says if a printed voucher is required, so check it before the day.
